How to rent a Harley in Los Angeles

Where to hire a Harley for your LA Itinerary

After arriving in Hollywood, my first task was finding a top-of-the-range hire company specializing in Harley Davidson bike rental. I didn’t know what bike I wanted, only that it had to be a Harley.

If you’re in a similar position, check out Eagle riders rental and tours to rent a Harley Davidson for a day. Located perfectly between Hollywood and Santa Monica beach, they boast many new models of Harley Davidsons to rent. I was in Harley heaven. In addition, BikesBooking is the most popular platform for renting bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles, and you can get many styles at a great cost if you book in advance.

What Do You Need to Hire a Harley Davidson Motorbike

To rent a Harley in Los Angeles, you don’t need any of your motorcycle gear. The Harley rental company provides everything for the trip, so you don’t need to worry about anything.

Just provide your full motorcycle license, decide whether you want to purchase the additional insurance, and make a deposit payment (this may vary but it was approximately $300 when I visited).

Picking the bike will be easy; one of the magnificent machines will simply call to you, and that will be it. For me, it was a 2018 Fat Boy that shouted out to me as soon as I saw it.

Driving the Harley Davidson in LA

If you’re from a different country, you may need to get used to riding on the opposite side of the road and the local traffic system. Unlike a car, everything is in the same place on a bike, which is much easier. In Hollywood, you can turn right even at a red light. This traffic rule often catches people out and can cause traffic jams and angry horns.

If this is your first time on a Harley, take a moment to get used to the bike. I have experience with the Yamaha R range and Ninja, but I have also ridden an Indian Scout. Harleys are big machines, so you must get used to the weight if you usually ride smaller bikes.

Suggested Los Angeles 3 day itinerary:

Now that you’ve got the Harley Davidson rental LA sorted, its time to get exploring. There are so many reasons to visit Los Angeles Depending on how long you’re staying in Hollywood, you can adapt this itinerary to suit you:

Day 1: Hollywood Hills

Zoom in of the Hollywood sign

Ride around the Hollywood Hills and cruise by the lavish neighborhoods nestled on the mountainsides.

You can’t ride up to the Hollywood sign, but there is a parking area about half a mile away from it where you can roll up, take photos, and have panoramic views of LA. Take the opportunity to hike Griffith Park and if you’ve got the time, drop in to see the observatory.

The route leading down from the Hollywood hills will take you into Hollywood Boulevard and the main strip. Here you can take the Hollywood walk of fame and see the iconic stars. An advantage of Harley Davidson rental in LA is that parking on Hollywood Blvd is free and easy for motorbikes.

Day 2: Beverly Hills

What do you think of when you hear someone say Beverly Hills? Money, glitz, and glam? Well, you would be spot on!
A Los Angeles 3-day itinerary isn’t complete without a day spent in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, and if you’re doing it on the back of a Harley, you’ll feel at home.

Drive the 1.5-mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard, which will take you from Hollywood to Beverly Hills. Between the stunning cars and impressive buildings, you can enjoy some sun and drinks (alcohol-free, obviously) in between riding your Harley Davidson rental.

My first time here was an eye-opener and what I expected. Beautiful buildings and a sense of wealth are everywhere you look. So park up your motorbike, enjoy a walk around the neighborhoods, or head to the high-end boutiques on Rodeo Drive. One sight you can’t miss is the world-famous Beverly Hills Sign which is Instagram-worthy.

As Beverly Hills is just outside Hollywood’s main city center, you can visit it several times and return for an evening meal and drink. Contemplate taking an Uber or Lyft there for the evening; the enticing bars will surely lure you into an evening of entertainment.

Day 3: Santa Monica

Santa Monica beach is a fabulous place to tick off your Los Angeles 3 day itinerary as it is home to California’s most beautiful beaches. It boasts a fantastic range of restaurants, shops, and entertainment conveniently located along the beachfront. Parking couldn’t be more accessible, with free parking for bikes everywhere.

If the Harley isn’t enough, I recommend renting a beach cruise (American pushbike) that you can cruise around the front. If you want to maximize the time you have to see what Santa Monica offers, this is a great choice. Stop by the Santa Monica Pier, check out the street entertainers, or head into the Pacific Park Amusement park that looks out to the Pacific Ocean.

You will come across the stereotypical rollerbladers in all the movies and Muscle Beach, where there seems to be plenty of competition between the bodybuilders. If relaxing is your thing, head to Venice beach’s golden sands to chill and recuperate.

If you’re in Hollywood for longer than three days, there are plenty more things to do in LA to keep you out of trouble. If you’re veggies like us, then be sure to check out the best vegan and gluten-free food in LA.

Tips for your Los Angeles 3 day Itinerary on a Harley

Based on my experience, my pointers to get the most out of your Harley Davidson rental in Los Angeles are:

  • Research where it is best to go – have a plan in mind.
  •  Use WIFI to download maps offline and take good-quality earphones for your ride.
  •  Get used to the bike and the traffic light systems.

Los Angeles 3 day Itinerary on a Harley in Summary

One thing that is for sure is that you will wish you have more time on your motorbike. Of course, renting a Harley Davidson in Los Angeles is costly, but you can’t put a price on experience. So enjoy your three days in LA, but if you have even longer, consider taking a ride to Las Vegas or a road trip to San Francisco.

Whatever you do, you will make the most out of your Harley Davidson rental in LA.

  1. This sounds absolutely amazing seeing that part of American on a machine that was made for this environment sounds bucket list material.

    1. I have always wanted to ride a Harley so it’s great that it’s so easy to rent one in Hollywood. The LA itinerary is also helpful as I now have a good idea of where to go and explore.

      1. This is a great itinerary, regardless of the form of transportation. You can’t go wrong with southern CA! But I can see that cruising on a motorcycle would be especially nice in nearly perfect weather.

  2. LA traffic is such a nightmare, a bike is a great idea in order to split lanes and not get stuck in a jam. I bet driving in the Hollywood Hills and Mulholland Drive on a bike is a lot of fun, great idea!

  3. This is really cool as I never thought about it before. I think I will be like you, don’t know what to pick as I know nothing about Harley. But what I like, you can park for free either around Sunset Blvd. or Santa Monica Beach. It truly is another way to explore LA, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica.

  4. That sounds like a glam trip on a super bike. Best part I liked was that the parking is free on Hollywood Boulevard. When Harley Davidson moved out of India, I know so many people were disappointed. I am not a bike person, but this iconic bike has wooed the globe.

  5. It would be fun to see Los Angeles on a Harley Davidson! I’ve never been to Santa Monica so this would be my first stop. I’d probably ride on the back with my husband, the bikes are huge and I don’t think I would manage one!

  6. I can see how this would be a dream for motorcycle enthusiasts to be on holiday and rent a dream bike, it takes your holiday to a whole new level.

  7. What an epic adventerous time you must have had, touring LA by a Harley. I cannot drive myself, but I would like to sit on the back and just enjoy the view (hehe). Good that you do not have to bring your own gear if you rent a bike.

  8. We did something similar when I visited LA, although not on a Harley. I was very excited to see Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive but it was intimidatingly rich and glamorous.
